The Organization With roots dating back to 1951, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists is the premier professional membership organization for obstetrician-gynecologists. ACOG's Districts and Sections represent various regions, countries, territories, and states in North and South America. ACOG members, or Fellows, are board certified obstetrician-gynecologists whose professional activities are devoted to the practice of obstetrics and/or gynecology, who possess unrestricted licenses to practice medicine, and who have attained high ethical and professional standing. In addition, membership in ACOG is open to non-ob/gyn physicians and allied health professionals that perform valuable service in the area in the women's health. Position Purpose The Medical Director for Education and Academic Affairs shall be responsible for providing operational and strategic oversight to educational programs that are delivered to enhance the professional development of our members. This role will have responsibility for overseeing the development and implementation of ACOG's educational and academic programs including ACOG's resident education and programs (CREOG), clinical content in our annual meeting at the national, district and section levels along with partnering on diverse internal and external education programs. This position will also be responsible for compliance with ACCME standards and ensuring appropriate certifications. Key Duties and Responsibilities In partnership with the CMO, and other departments within ACOG, create and deliver innovative educational programs to enhance our membership. Ensure all educational programs remain innovative, compelling and meeting the needs of our membership. Provide guidance on activities related to curriculum development, implementation, and policy. Oversee and Supervise, develop, and evaluate academic, training and development activities to promote a culture of learning. Implements methods to expand and improve on the continuing education programs offered to all members at different stages of their professional career. Actively participate and oversee committees to create educational products that meet the needs of our members and generates revenue. Responsibilities include oversight for the Committee on Scientific programs, Committee on Continuing Medical Education, Committees and programs related to CREOG including CREOG Council, CREOG Examination, and CREOG Education Committee. Oversees the conduct pre and post programmatic needs assessments to ensure our educational materials remain relevant to our membership. Focus on member engagement as a goal for educational products. Collaborate across departments to ensure that health equity is addressed in education products and materials. Identifies funding opportunities to include grants and endowments, drafts proposals and completes required applications to enhance educational opportunities for our members. Deliver compelling content through innovative program for our members. Oversee the Institution Review Board (IRB) program ensuring compliance and ongoing accreditation. Creates a diverse and inclusive environment for their team. Other duties as assigned Work Qualifications Board Certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Active Fellow of ACOG Master's degree in education favorable Experience as a program director or experience on the CREOG committee desirable Education and experience in adult learning principles Knowledge in CME Accreditation process Experience leading a team Ability to lead multi-disciplinary/cross-functional groups and facilitate to consolidate work from multiple team members into a consistent voice. A team-builder who is collaborative, organized, detailed-oriented, and proactive. Demonstrated track record of hiring, managing and mentoring staff members. This involves holding people accountable, resolving conflicts, active participation in annual performance evaluations and providing professional development opportunities An excellent communicator-oral, written, and listening skills-and a bridge builder who can develop relationships and build trust and credibility with a diverse set of stakeholders. Evidence of a collaborative engaging leadership approach. Ability to travel as needed ACOG will consider part time employment to enable someone to continue to practice in the OB/GYN field. Why ACOG?
