We're seeking a creative Front-End Developer to join a talented team of software engineers. You should be a passionate problem solver who applies their technical experience to create compelling and useful digital experiences for our main websites. As the Front-End Developer, you will work in a supportive and collaborative team environment that values ideas, opinions, curiosity, and creativity. You will work with UI/UX and bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works. The Chronicle has a variety of highly visible websites and is using wide a range of technology. You will report to the senior manager, product engineering. Job Requirements:What you'll do: Develop functional and appealing web- and mobile-based applications based on user-centric design and usability Create great UI working with business, UX, and technology teammates in a scrum environment Combine the art of design with the art of programming Setup and maintain an organized frontend development environment and processes Recommend new technologies and processes for complex software projects Evaluate new technologies and help to modernize our technical infrastructure Create a functional and attractive digital environment for our company, ensuring a great user experience Required Skills and Qualifications: 3 to 5 years professional experience implementing websites or applications using JavaScript, HTML, CSS(Less), RESTful APIs, ReactJS Understanding of object-oriented programming Solid understanding of build tools, Webpack, NPM, Yarn Excellent communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, Git, GitHub, GitLab Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems, and Docker Development of responsive web pages and proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them Passionate commitment to building great user experiences with strong visual skills in UI, typography, iconography, use of color and an eye for detail Desired Skills and Qualifications: 1+ years of professional experience with Java, or other object-oriented programming language Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them Good understanding of web page performance Strong understanding of website accessibility and ensuring each feature adheres to these standards How to Apply: We'd love to hear from you.
