Job Details

AEI's Initiative on Faith & Public Life is a unique academic outreach program that provides Christian college students with formational educational and professional opportunities. In a political culture marked by polarization, partisanship, and apathy (especially among young people), the initiative seeks to equip students to engage faithfully and constructively in contemporary public life.

We carry out this mission by working with a network of students, faculty, scholars, and professionals across the country; sponsoring seminars, conferences, on-campus events, and other intensive programming; and producing a variety of educational resources including books, essays, videos, and documentaries. Reflected in all our programs and resources are AEI's core values: a commitment to democracy and free enterprise, solidarity with those at the periphery of our society, and an appreciation for a robust competition of ideas. In that spirit, the initiative fosters rigorous, nonpartisan dialogue about a wide range of relevant topics-from economics and business to society and culture, and from politics and public policy to character and vocation-from a distinctly Christian perspective.

We are seeking an assistant or associate (depending on experience) for the initiative, who will support the initiative's director and associate in executing a strategic and results-oriented plan to accomplish this mission.

Responsibilities

  • Communicating both AEI and the Initiative on Faith & Public Life's missions and research to students and professors;
  • Recruiting students and coordinating on-campus programming through AEI Executive Councils (AEI's on-campus student leadership program);
  • Helping plan and execute major conferences in Washington, DC, and around the country;
  • Coordinating programming, recruiting, and interviewing students for the monthlong Summer Honors Program and a summerlong internship program;
  • Coordinating student research and writing programs;
  • Managing submissions for the Faith & Public Life blog and periodically updating program webpages on initiative's website;
  • Planning and recruiting students for a weekend honors program on faith and entrepreneurship;
  • Maintaining a database in Salesforce to track current and former students and academic partners;
  • Assisting in the management of social media platforms;
  • And liaising with AEI's scholars to help facilitate their engagement with colleges and universities.

Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented and organized self-starter, with a willingness to take initiative;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, an interest in network building, and strong verbal and written communication;
  • Familiarity with AEI's work and an interest in public policy
  • Interest in the intersection of Christian theology and ethics with politics, economics, and society;
  • Able to meet deadlines, multitask, and prioritize;
  • A bachelor's degree is required. Some relevant work or internship experience and familiarity with think tanks, student programs, the Christian higher education landscape, and Salesforce are preferred.

Qualified applicants should submit a resume, a cover letter, college transcript(s), and a 500-word writing sample with the online application to www.aei.org/jobs.
