Summary

This announcement is for multiple postings in the Architecture & Development Branch of the Judiciary Data and Analysis Office (JDAO). These are hands-on positions and will require the person selected to have the ability to manage and guide teams working on various projects developing and implementing data integration and/or visualization solutions in support of the organization.

Responsibilities

The right candidate(s) should be very familiar with the concepts and implementations of Data warehouses, Data marts, visualization solutions, and should have both project management and technical background (think data models, ETL, reporting layer, visualizations, etc.) to lead the development and implementation team(s).

Specific duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing project resources including government and contracting staff and multiple projects/workstreams in a high-pressure environment with aggressive delivery schedules.
  • Supporting, promoting, and driving implementation best practices and standardization on data integration and visualization projects.
  • Ensuring data accuracy and timeliness. Developing project timelines and project plans and drive projects to successful completion.
  • Enforcing technical standards among project delivery teams.
  • Enforcing System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) rigor as well as security standards when dealing with sensitive PII data.
  • Facilitating productive meetings and follow-up post meetings with strong organization capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Collaborating with multiple departments and offices. Leading, facilitating, and coordinating requirements meetings and design sessions; collaborating with architects, data modelers, and various developers to successfully deliver on the goals of the projects.
  • Assisting in developing strategic and resource plans as well as evaluating and making recommendations for new business intelligence tools and initiatives.
  • Working closely with business and power users to advise on best practices and educate on data sources.
  • Working in tandem with the Data Visualization Coordinator to ensure adequate resource management, timeliness, quality, and consistency across the entire data visualization portfolio as required.
  • Participating in and promote data governance activities such as cataloging data, contributing to metadata management, data lineage, and data quality.
  • Managing help desk activities for the applications being supported.

  • You will be required to serve a trial period if selected for a first-time appointment to the Federal government, transferring from another Federal agency, or serving as a first-time supervisor. Failure to successfully complete the trial period may result in termination of employment.
  • If appointed to a temporary position, management may have the discretion of converting the position to permanent depending upon funding and staffing allocation.
  • Relocation expenses may be provided, but only if authorized by the Director of the AO.


  • Qualifications

    Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.

    Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience in data warehousing concepts, database design, ETL development, reporting tools, and various scripting languages.
