The Major Gift Officer (MGO) will play a key role in developing and advancing donor relationships and encouraging increased giving through the execution of cultivation and stewardship strategies for prospects and donors to Catholic Charities. The position reports directly to the Director of Major Gifts and will work independently and as a member of the development team. The MGO is responsible for building and strengthening relationships and partnerships with donor prospects to grow the major gift pipeline. Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:30am-4:00pm Major Gifts responsibilities: Tracks and reports on donor interactions, meetings and proposals. Creates, implements and manages program to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward individual prospects for annual, capital and programmatic support. Works with senior agency, divisional and central development staff to manage major gift prospects. Personally manages a portfolio of 120+ mid to top-level prospects. Coordinates major donor visits with executive and senior staff in addition to scheduling and personally visiting major donors. Develops annual plan for written communications strategies to major donor prospects. Develops written and verbal solicitation strategies, proposals and presentation materials for prospects. Manages the integration of prospect research data provided by periodic prospect data mining into donor gifts strategies. Arranges periodic cultivation/recognition events for major donors. Researches new donors and assigns appropriate annual giving strategy. Stewards major donors to communicate impact of giving. Identifies prospects and qualifies through engagement strategies. Performs other duties as assigned. Administrative responsibilities: Develops and monitors the portion of the department budget. Communicates progress of activities to the Director of Major Gifts following an agree schedule and produces reports as requested. Maintains ongoing communication with the Director of Major Gifts to ensure that he/she is kept abreast of the status of major giving opportunities; knowledgeable of sensitive issues and involved as needed in the resolution of complex problems. Contributes to and participates in the activities of the Development program, most notably events involving major donors. Maintains knowledge of current tax treatment and other developments relevant to philanthropic giving. Attends and participates in staff meetings and job related career development workshops and/or seminars as needed/requested. Assists with events as needed. Assists the department in providing on-going supervision and training to central and divisional department staff. Major Gift Officer requirements: Bachelor's degree in marketing, accounting, or business and minimum of 7-10 years of development, marketing, accounting, financial planning or legal experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid MD Driver's license with no more than three points (if an out-of-state license, a MD Driver's License must be obtaining within 30 days of hire).
