Senior Accounting Associate, Credit Accounting

Capital One is looking to hire a Senior Associate in the Controller's Accounting Department supporting the Credit Accounting function. This role requires a combination of accounting expertise and financial analysis. Primary responsibilities support management's reporting and analysis of troubled debt restructurings ("TDR"). We are looking for a candidate who has strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. The candidate should also possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities include:
  • Preparing quarterly TDR reports for internal management and external SEC and Regulatory reporting
  • Incorporating updates to external reporting as a result of updated regulations (i.e. impacts of CARES Act and new Accounting Standards)
  • Consolidating TDR results and analyses for stakeholders on a quarterly basis
  • Engaging upstream input providers to understand the impacts of their processes on our overall TDR and allowance disclosures
  • Building relationships with Loss Mitigation / Servicing input providers to understand their processes and results
  • Expanding the analytics performed to assess the accuracy and appropriateness of reports received from multiple lines of business
  • Executing SOX and operating controls as part of the TDR reports
  • Testing business requirements for the TDR team in support of acquisitions and conversions
  • Supporting internal audit and external audit groups
  • Leveraging new and existing technologies to enhance reporting and analytics and implement automation
  • Contributing to process excellence initiatives and risk assessments of TDR reporting processes
  • Supporting activities conducted throughout the enterprise, to support the above mentioned responsibilities
  • Contribute to the On Demand Finance vision and goals


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or military experience
  • At least 2 years of accounting, finance, or audit experienceor a combination


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of financial services, credit accounting, or public accounting experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certification
  • Excellent project managerial and interpersonal skills
