UX/UI Designer, CreditWise Design Team

The Design team at Capital One is at the forefront of enriching our customers' digital and physical experiences. We champion a thriving environment of collaboration, authenticity and healthy critique, in which we honor diversity of thought, create a culture of belonging, and elevate one another.

We are currently seeking a UI Designer, with strong UX skills, to join our team. We are passionate about advocating for user needs and delivering innovative and accessible products that redefine our customers day-to-day financial activities. If you're an innovator and storyteller who embraces an environment where you can experiment, learn, and change banking for good, we would love to hear from you.

We're the CreditWise Design team. We focus on empowering our users to understand, improve, and protect their credit and financial health - while empowering them to achieve their financial goals. In 2021-2022, we're on a transformative journey to become America's Financial GPS. We want to be the premier place for our users to improve their credit and financial health, whatever that means to them.

In CreditWise we iterate and ship quickly. Our design team collaborates with talented partners from product, tech, ops, analytics, marketing, and brand teams. We listen, collaborate, and co-lead, because we believe all those skills are necessary to build a transformative experience for our users.

What You'll Do:

You'll be asked to handle a variety of responsibilities, including:

Collaboration & Connection:
  • Meet with the CreditWise design team to align on the week's priorities, hear and share updates, and share wins and worries from the week
  • Join the CreditWise product managers, analysts, marketers, and developers to hear the latest in the CreditWise landscape
  • Collaborating with technology, product, and business teams to uncover customer and business needs, then translating them into transformative, intuitive, user friendly and on-brand interfaces
  • Participating in translating complex ideas into understandable concepts that evolve and enhance the product interface
  • Advocating for the customer through human centered design methodologies, including: discovery, ideation, sketch sessions, and user testing
  • Supporting design led workshops to engage and build alignment across different partners and teams
  • Championing prioritization of design centered product enhancements grounded in research and analysis
  • Connecting with design community peers by learning, sharing, and teaching

Discovery & Delivery:
  • Supporting early product definition by working with partners to facilitate discovery sessions that uncover customer pain points and opportunities
  • Demonstrating familiarity with design tools to deliver concepts and enable successful collaboration across teams
  • Contributing to style guides, iconography, and infographics that can be leveraged by teams
  • Participating in end-to-end product design by:
    • Working with researchers to understand customer needs and interpreting information into visual forms that are impactful and intuitive
    • Framing problems, determining insights, and defining visual designs to serve customer needs
    • Ideating, sketching, and delivering low to high fidelity prototypes
    • Designing within existing - and creating new - standards to contribute to our internal design system, best practices, and guidelines
    • Storytelling and presenting visual concepts to various stakeholders
    • Creating high fidelity design assets for acceptance, development, and delivery to market in partnership with technology colleagues

You'll be energized by this job if you:

  • Love creating user experiences that improve our customers' financial lives while also contributing to the success of our business
  • Create delightful UX and UI designs quickly, while keeping them connected to the larger "why" behind the work
  • Thrive on bringing product managers and developers along for the journey of creating great customer experiences
  • You sweat the details of building quality UI, and create solutions from a common design language used by your team.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of User Interface Design (UI) experience
  • At least 2 years of experience on a User Experience (UX) or experience design team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • Advanced degree in Human-Computer Interaction or Design
  • Experience designing for cross channel experiences
  • Comfortable working with a variety of business partners and delivering outcomes
  • Familiarity with design and prototyping tools, such as Sketch and/or Figma
  • Familiarity with working in an established design system
