Associate Director of Academic Technology for Missouri Online The University of Missouri System (UM System) consists of system administration and four universities: The University of Missouri-Columbia, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, the Missouri University of Science and Technology, the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and all of their component parts, including MU Health, MU Extension and UM Engagement. Missouri Online | UM System Office of eLearning supports each of the four universities in providing vision and leadership regarding excellence, quality and scale in academic program services for online and digital education. Through the provision of these services, and led by world-class faculty and staff, the Office of eLearning strives to deliver high-quality, interactive, convenient and engaging learning experiences for a globally diverse student body. Job Description This position is responsible for providing visionary and collaborative leadership, coordination and management of existing and future state-of-the art academic technology platforms to address growing and high demand eLearning postsecondary education priorities. The successful candidate will lead a talented and dedicated team who are essential in supporting all UM students, faculty, and staff, as well as 260 degree programs. Current academic technologies include: Canvas, Zoom, Panopto, Voicethread, and many others. Responsibilities This key leader in the Office of eLearning is responsible for delivering optimal academic technology solutions while meeting diverse educational and institutional needs. Identify strategies and analyze potential solutions to address complex situations. Effectively participate in leadership meetings and advisory councils, providing expertise and employing strategic leadership principles. Advise the senior director and other eLearning leadership on the formulation of policies related to academic technology and advocate for needed changes as the technological and pedagogical landscape evolves. Develop and maintain effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders throughout the University of Missouri system, including senior academic leaders, faculty, administrators, and information technology experts. Stay current with emerging academic technology trends, and provide recommendations to the senior director for strategic direction. Executive project leader for large-scale multi-campus projects such as streamlining complex and distributed processes, implementing new technologies, and managing change. In conjunction with the senior director, responsible for establishing strategic priorities, project plans, and communication plans. Develop and manage project teams in-person and virtually. Ensure deliverables are within budget and on-time. Responsible for administrative leadership of 15-20 FTE Develop short- and long-range objectives, staffing requirements and succession plans. Provide coaching, performance feedback, supervision, and effective team development. Ensure a positive, collaborative, productive, and results-oriented work environment to team members in-person and virtually. Manage academic technology support services including 2nd and 3rd Tier support provided to all University of Missouri faculty, staff and students using academic technologies across the UM system. Ensure customer experiences are consistently professional and responsive with credible and reliable solutions. Establish and analyze key performance indicators to ensure effective services are provided. Identify and implement process improvements to create consistent, scalable processes across the University system, ensuring collaborative co-creation and effective change management. Optimize support structures and processes for easy navigation by faculty, staff and students. May directly provide 2nd and 3rd tier technical support to internal and/or external constituents. Lead and coordinate other essential functions in a timely manner to ensure faculty can deliver courses seamlessly without interruption. Develop, implement and educate faculty on the use of various technology solutions, requiring diverse communication skills and training methods. Create communication plans, identify ad hoc needs, and deliver effective communication to the campus communities. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 8 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications A Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or Educational Technology or a related area is preferred. Effective strategic leadership, project management, communication and collaboration skills including extensive experience supporting a diverse, complex, organization with varying customer demands. Shown leadership in understanding and articulating academic technology solutions to serve a broad range of needs within a higher education environment. Project management experience with complex, large-scale projects with defined resources. Progressively responsible experience in Learning Management System administration, design and development of multimedia training, and in providing faculty and student support is preferred.
