Responsibilities

  • Operator diesel powered equipment including a motor grader with articulated frame, with grade box attachment, bulldozers of varying sizes and weights for rough and fine grading and excavators used to dig dewatering ditches and loading dump trucks.
  • Grades surfaces, compacts soils, and rolls to meet specifications on flatter rolling terrain.
  • Moves earth on steep slopes, graded curves and shoulders and surfaces with rough Features.
  • Operates front-end loaders and other construction equipment.
  • Excavates, backfills, grades (rough and fine) using engineer grade stakes to determine degree/angle of fine grading required of slopes, inclines, ramps, curves, road beds, and building and sloping banks to exact specifications
  • Performs daily preventive maintenance servicing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, lubricating fills out repair and orders for any repair work to be accomplished by the mechanics.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent will be required to have and maintain a valid state driver?s license prior to being hired.
  • Incumbent will be enrolled in the Hearing Conservation program and must undergo pre-employment, annual and pre-termination audiograms. (Per NAOSA DFs dtd 31 May 84 and 2 Aug 84
  • Incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain a current physician?s certification, dated within the past 2 years that the operator is physically qualified to operate equipment.
  • Incumbent will comply with safety regulations, occupational safety/ health standards; other safety directives and orders to include wearing personnel protective equipment/ respirators, hearing and fall protection, and personal flotation devices
  • This position is a drug abuse testing position. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, condition of employment for certain positions identified as critical under the drug abuse testing program, or a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. WG-5: Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) : Ability to do the work of a(n) Engineering Equipment Operator Helper without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to operate several types of diesel powered heavy equipment of varying sizes and weight for rough grading. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

WG-8: Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) : Ability to do the work of a(n) Engineering Equipment Operator without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to operate several types of diesel powered heavy equipment of varying sizes and weight including front end loaders, motor graders, bulldozers and excavators for rough and fine grading, dig dewatering ditches and load dump trucks Grade surfaces, compacts soils and meets specifications on flat terrain. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • (2) Higher level work exists at target grade level;
  • (3) Increased responsibilities are assigned
  • (4) Supervisor recommends promotion;
  • (5) Incumbent completes all required training and conditions of employment, and;
  • (6) Incumbent completes all regulatory requirements for career ladder promotions
