Senior Accountant General Ledger Duties & Responsibilities: Assists with monthly accounting close process, specifically with regards to general ledger functions (including allocations process) Generates standard month-end journal entries. Prepares balance sheet reconciliations and analyzes results, recommending corrective action Prepares various state and local tax and compliance filings, including sales and use tax (monthly & quarterly). Conducts financial dimension reviews (bi-weekly) Assists with preparation and distribution of monthly financial reports Assists in the corporate financial budgeting process Assists with external audits/reviews, and compiling data for income tax preparation Documents internal controls, processes, and procedures assesses the adequacy thereof, and recommends and implements necessary changes. Evaluates the flow of work and procedures followed and proposes changes to improve effectiveness and create efficiencies Ensures deliverables comply with regulatory guidance and professional standards Ad hoc reporting/other duties as assigned Assist and support other job functions as needed Be a back up to Payroll and A/P functions. Required Education, Experience, and Skills: Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance 4 6 years of relevant experience Solid understanding of GAAP, FAR and CAS Project accounting system experience required, with MS Dynamics AX experience a BIG plus Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, but advanced expertise with MS Excel Public accounting experience and certification a strong plus Able to work independently, but also effectively as part of team Proactive approach to problem solving Ability to meet and enforce deadlines Detail oriented, but also able to appreciate the bigger picture Excellent communication skills
