Provides technical office and field support in the management of the agency trenchless rehabilitation program, manhole and service connection rehabilitation program, sanitary sewer easement clearing program, asset management program and the site inspection of the rehabilitation and easement clearing contractors. Note: Wastewater Management positions are responsible for providing uninterrupted sewer service to residents during extreme inclement weather or other emergencies. Engages in safe working practices and complies with Wastewater safety programs and guidelines. Works u nder general supervision of the Rehabilitation Group supervisor.

Note: This position is designated as emergency service personnel. As such, this position is subject to 24-hour on-call and may be required to report to work during extreme inclement weather or other emergencies, including after-hours and weekend work during emergency incidents to fulfill emergency service duties.

Employment Standards

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education; plus, three years of engineering technical support work.

  • A valid driver's license
  • Pipe Assessment Certification Program (PACP) within 12 months of hire.
  • Manhole Assessment Certification Program (MACP) within 12 months of hire.
  • Inspector Training Certification Program within 18 months of hire.

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, driver's license check, and pre-employment physical to the satisfaction of the employer.

Ability to make accurate computations, analyze and interpret information; maintain working relationships with the public and other agencies. Strong customer service skills, knowledge of the permitting process and the Fairfax Inspection Database (FIDO). or a similar permitting/work order maintenance computer system. Experience using GIS. Experience with Microsoft Office programs and the ability to utilize Excel effectively for business records. Experience in Sewer Rehabilitation and Construction. Knowledge of NASSCO inspection requirements and condition assessment of sewer systems.

Must be able to lift/slide up to 90 pounds with assistance, drive motor vehicle, occasional stooping and extended standing and seating. Must be able to drive county vehicle to and form jobsites to review work performed by contractors. Drive to county facilities as required.
