The Analyst will assist in the evaluation of early-stage technologies and provide analytical support for Innovation Ventures. The Analyst will support the office by providing market research, intelligence, and insights that help with competitive analyses. Assist Innovation Ventures with the development of business plan documents, pitch decks, comparative analyses, research market trends. Perform commercial analysis and coordination, including conducting comprehensive technical reviews of scientific studies, research, and analysis in the areas of advanced technology development. Utilize quantitative and qualitative approaches to manage and analyze research data from public and proprietary datasets. Use this foundational data to extrapolate strategies for advancing new technologies/products to market. Develop recommendations on market entry points for new technologies, geographic expansion opportunities for established products. Conduct literature reviews which include a combination of technical and business content. Utilize project management, databases and communication tools to report program initiatives, progress and outcomes to leadership. Creatively address organizational concerns by devising tools, metrics, and dashboards to manage and report on projects, gauge progress, outcomes and successes.


Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in biological sciences, business, or related fields. Advanced degree is desirable (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
2 years as business analyst or in a related analytical position (market opportunity assessment, financial modeling, generation of business reports/analyses) (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experienced in department budget and personnel administration and communication.
Computer Skills - Excel, Microsoft Word, Access, & PowerPoint

Functional Accountabilities

Administrative Support
1. Coordinate administrative tasks consistent with workload requirements and available resources.
2. Recommend and participate in development of new processes and systems to meet departmental needs.
3. Support the work of Innovation Ventures in developing collaborations between internal and external research laboratories, federal agencies, universities, and the private sector on the basis of specific technology areas to build partnerships.
4. Assist with updates to the website, maintain mailing lists, file logs
5. Assist with other office duties as needed

Budget Management
1. Ensure availability of data for management decision making Committees and Meetings
2. Assist with tracking license costs, associated reimbursements, and income

Operational Support
1. Identify new funding and collaboration opportunities with pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies, universities, foundations, Venture Capital firms.
2. Demonstrated understanding of life sciences sector in general and product development/commercialization pathway in particular.
3. Experience or educational background to support market opportunity assessment, financial modeling or life sciences business consulting preferred.
4. Interest in working within a small team to perform primary/secondary market research on competitors, markets and customer segments.
5. Experience collaborating with team members to derive trends, conclusions, and recommendations based on market research and product/technology evaluation
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to manage/support multiple projects simultaneously.
