Summary

The position is in the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Office of Information & Security Services (ISS), Information Assurance Division, Information Assurance Branch, responsible for providing support under OMB Circular A-130 which assigns responsibilities for privacy program management and tasks supporting the bureau privacy program.

Responsibilities

As a Government Information Specialist, you will:

- Assist with and perform annual reviews and updates of Privacy documentation (e.g., PTA [Privacy Threshold Analysis], PIA [Privacy Impact Assessment], PII [Personally Identifiable Information] Holdings Survey) for FISMA compliance.

- Assist with and update the PTA, PIA, PII Holdings Surveys templates and Form 7005 to improve the compliance review process, provide the user with an easy tool, and allow the Chief Privacy Officer to make more informed determinations about privacy and security concerns.

- Review documents from business areas for privacy and security concerns that will be made public during external training events, conferences or meetings, as requested.

- Assist with maintaining the bureau inventory of Privacy Sensitive - Systems and External Services in TFIMS. Assists with consolidating PII holdings as needed for reporting to Chief Privacy Officer and Treasury.

- Assist with maintaining the Fiscal Service Privacy Program Handbook. Updates the Computer Matching Agreement SOP used bureau-wide. Updates the Privacy Act Statement SOP used Bureau-wide.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent, which have equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes experience performing work in a federal privacy program tasked with ensuring compliance with federal privacy laws, regulations, and policies.

Examples of such experience could include:
- Assisting in the development and publication of privacy documentation, including Privacy Impact Assessments and/or System of Records Notices as a team member in a privacy program; OR
- Assisting in the drafting and editing of privacy reports and correspondence for a public audience as a team member in a privacy program, including websites or congressional letters and privacy reports; OR
- Conducting research and providing technical advice and guidance related to privacy issues as a team member in a privacy program.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation. Periodic reinvestigation is required no later than five years after selection and at least every succeeding five years.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
