This position will be located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD. Responsibilities:Implementation of system improvements for HughesNet networks.Generate/provide status reports, provide network anomaly analysisPerform testing/changes/upgradesIdentify and mitigate security vulnerabilitiesCreating automation tools to optimize resources.Research & implement new networking technologies.Provide on-call support for networks and participate in maintenance windows after hours as needed by project.Some after hours and weekend support will also be required. Basic Requirements:Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or similar fieldAny previous experience scripting with bash, python or Perl scripting. Preferred Qualifications:Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or similar fieldApplicant must be able to thrive in a high pressure, cross functional environment. Primary duties will include support and troubleshooting and support of the HughesNet NOC.Adaptable and willing to learn new technologies.Ability to effectively multi-task.Knowledge of VMWare and virtualizationKnowledge of Storage Systems such as NetApp/EMC2Knowledge of Linux operating system configuration and monitoringExperience in RF engineering which includes working with test equipment: RF power meter, Bit Error Rate Tester, satellite modem and frequency converter.Direct experience with HughesNet systems and applications.Experience on the following equipment: Network Analyzer, Spectrum analyzer, multi-meter and the oscilloscope.Good customer service, interpersonal and communications skills (written and oral)Technical ability with implementing, operating and troubleshooting TCP/IP and Ethernet-based network architecturesWill be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
