Summary

The MIL Corporation seeks a Database Administration, Associate [ Database Administrator ( SQL Server/MySQL - Database Specialist III)] to support a Federal Government client at our Bethesda, MD location.

Responsibilities
  • Managing and supporting MySQL, Oracle and SQL on Linux and Windows, working closely with vendors, external consultants, application support teams, technical support team, and other database administrators.
  • Installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining database instances; maintaining databases to include patching, backup and recovery, new release rollouts, and upgrades, and ensuring recovery from backup is setup to meet requirements .
  • Implement and release database changes required for front-end applications .
  • Ensure availability and performance of the databases .
  • Understanding and supporting database security policies.
  • Understanding and supporting database backup, recovery, and redundancy strategies.
  • Following and recommending best practices .
  • Collaborating with contract team and Federal customers to promote a positive, helpful, and inclusive environment.
  • Manage tasks to meet customer SLAs and expectations, communicate issues and recommend remediation .
  • Performing other tasks as assigned .

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or Information Systems; candidates who possess a degree in another area will require additional experience supporting databases.
  • Hands on SQL Server Database Administrator with 5+ years of working experiences.
  • Hands on MySQL Database Administrator with 2+ years of working experiences.
  • Demonstrated Linux and Windows operating system experience.
  • Supported cloud-based database technologies such as Microsoft Azure, including but not limited to, MySQL.
  • Strong database troubleshooting and performance tuning skills, especially in SQL Server.
  • Experience in backup and recovery.
  • Familiar with MySQL tools mysqldump and mysqlbinlog.
  • Experience in using BASH shell and tools such as tar, gzip, and OpenSSL.
  • Experience in MySQL replication and encryption.
  • Experience in TDE (Transparent Data Encryption).
  • Experience in installing, upgrading, and configuring databases and report servers.
  • Strong SQL and T-SQL skill.
  • Experience in cluster and VM environment.
  • Knowledge in SSRS (SQL Server Report Service), SSIS (SQL Server Integration Service), and SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Service).
  • Skill in report creation and deployment.
  • Understanding DMZ.
