The Regional Distribution Center is currently located in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. In mid- Summer 2021, the facility will move to a new location but still within the Inland Empire area of Southern California. Location and date are to be determined. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a Regional Inventory Control Specialist.

Major Duties

Serves as the Regional Inventory Control Specialist for NAF Business and Support Services Division, (MR), Supply Chain Branch (MRL) in support of Marine Corps Exchange (MCX) business activities. The incumbent serves as a liaison between the MR Business Operations Branch (MRL), Merchandising (MRM) and Store Operations (MRX), the MR Fourth Party Logistics (4PL) management company and the distribution center management team (3PL). Incumbent validates 3PL distribution team cycle count variances to confirm accuracy of counts prior to inventory adjustments being made in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Retail Merchandise System (RMS), as applicable. Coordinates physical inventories with the 3PL distribution center team and Logistics Inventory Control Manager, validates accuracy of count prior to inventory adjustments being made in the WMS and RMS, as applicable.

Makes recommendations and supports MCX return to vendor & return authorization process and coordinates with the 3PL distribution center to ensure proper documentation of vendor returns and destroy in field merchandise. Works with 3PL's distribution center team to resolve Troubled Freight.. Provides expertise on issues between the 3PL distribution center team and MCX vendor compliance program.

Monitors MCX retail products on a regular basis, and coordinates with MCX and the MR 4PL in identifying areas of corrective action to ensure support of operating programs of Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS). Checks supporting documentation for validity of data related to automated processes put in place to support the business operations policies and procedures applicable to MCCS activities. .Conducts regular audits, both on site at the installations and at the Regional Distribution Centers to monitor and report on the accuracy of the 3PL and support the quality assurance measurements in place.

Coordinates inventory/merchandising-related activities with other affected stakeholders and/or personnel, tracking activity statistics, generating status reports for management, informing management and the MR 4PL of developing trends/problems in the distribution center and performing other related activities/special projects as assigned. Compiles and reviews distribution data from sources such as purchase orders, invoices, requisitions, and accounting reports to determine compliance with control and audit systems. . Active involvement with 3PL in merchandising events such as seasonal sets, ad breaks, etc. that may require holding goods in the regional distribution center for a release date to stores, to ensure proper execution.

The incumbent consults with MRL in determining which projects to initiate, develops deadlines, and identifies staff and other resources required to carry out the mission and functions of their position. This position interacts regularly with the installations serviced by their facility, facilitating quality communication regarding shipping volumes, load quality, RTV consolidations, stock-outs, and any other information necessary to the effective management of receiving and inventory at the command- level.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists internal customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to 4PL, 3PL and MR management, as applicable. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

May work a fluctuating work schedule to complete work assignments outside of the typical work week and work hours. May travel to complete work assignments. This position may require occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. Performs other assigned duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in merchandise management, logistics management or a related field appropriate to the work of position AND three years of experience in a related field or work area, OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. Knowledge of overall retail business operations, supply organization, mission, and operating functions related to retail product shipping, receiving, inventory, warehousing, transportation, and supply. Experience in retail operations and/or retail supply chain operations is preferred. Skill to operate a personal computer and associated peripheral software to include Microsoft Word and Excel. Superior organizational, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Needs to be a self-starter who can be productive working solo in a remote location. Must possess the skill to build productive relationships within MCX and with external logistics partners to resolve issues effectively and swiftly.

Not eligible for telework. Duties of the position must be performed at the work site.
