Responsibilities

As a Information Technology Project Manager, at the full performance GS-14 level you will perform the following duties:
  • Coordinates development of applications and testing; implements systems, processes, and/or policies to improve the efficiency and quality of programs;
  • Develops and executes a communication plan related to milestones via status reports, and presentations suitable for all levels of management and staff;
  • Creates successful action plans for resolving issues to mitigate and minimize project exposure and risk;
  • Negotiates emerging issues and changes in project requirements and advises leadership when issues are beyond his/her scope to resolve; and
  • Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organizational outcomes.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one of the following:

Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
  • Managing IT related projects from initiation to completion, including technical project management of new and ongoing projects;
  • Creating successful action plans for resolving issues to mitigate and minimize project exposure and risk; and
  • Providing ongoing project status briefings and presentations to senior project manager and/or to senior level managers
In addition to the specialized experience, you must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed and defined below:
  • Attention to Detail - is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail
  • Customer Service - assessing the needs, providing information and/or technical assistance to clients and customers (to include the general public, individuals who work in or outside of the agency); committed to providing quality products and services
  • Oral Communication - expressing information (e.g. ideas or facts) to individuals or groups, taking into account the audience and nature of information (e.g. technical, sensitive, controversial); making clear and convincing oral presentations; listening to others, attending to nonverbal cues and responding appropriately; and
  • Problem Solving - identifying problems; considering risks, determining accuracy and relevance of information; using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
