Smartronix is seeking a Senior Unix System Administrator-Team Lead responsible for installing, configuring, and managing the Linux/Solaris operating systems and related tool sets supporting NAVAIR. This includes gathering requirements, developing, and conducting design reviews, along with "as approved" implementations within the mainstream corporate infrastructure. Keeping servers "compliant" per NAVAIR and DISA policies to include backup and disaster recovery requirements, anti-virus protection, and implementing system security. Knowledge of backup plans and rotation cycles. Maintaining the information on the Knowledge Base site. Producing documentation that details and describes the systems, procedures, events, and any associated processes. Building new infrastructure servers. Maintaining, tuning, and patching systems for optimum performance and security. Migrating or upgrading systems, where applicable. Participating in monthly routine maintenance tasks. Responding to system failures promptly to bring applications back online. Responsible for providing direction and guidance to more junior level team members. May supervise others. Responsibilities for the Senior Unix System Administrator-Team Lead: Responsible for coordinating patching efforts for Dev/Test, Production, and Infrastructure patching windows across multiple DoD Enclaves Work collaboratively with other Data Center teams to provide Unix/Linux based solutions to meet business requirements. Responsible for the oversight of the creation and maintenance of Ansible playbooks and other administrative shell scripting Effectively analyze and resolve problems involving interaction between applications, server hardware/firmware/OS and storage by working with cross functional teams and equipment vendors Responsible for the communication coordination during issues/outages and seeing that issues are resolved in a timely manner Provide effective communication to customer inquiries/issues Providing leadership/mentorship to team members when needed Responsible for weekly/monthly reporting to our government customer Holds weekly team calls to address any issues or to provide a status on any updates involving the team Attends weekly customer meetings and delegates tasking as a result Provides team tasking via change requests and escalated tickets Maintains the team and Unix team queue schedule Responsible for overseeing and ensuring all day to day processes are documented and kept up to date Manages the progress and aids in various major/minor projects Required Skills and Experience: Clearance Required: Active DoD Secret Clearance Security+ Certification Knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting methods Experience with Solaris and Linux Server to include the build, maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as addressing, service requests, routine sever maintenance (firmware, failures, hardening, etc.), and server consolidation Experience with UNIX/Linux, Sun Solaris 10/11 (UNIX), Red Hat, CentOS (Linux) Demonstrated experience maintaining the integrity and security of a Unix/Linux environment 5-7 years' experience required. A minimum of 3 years of Unix/Linux experience is required Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and clients Confident work ethic Good communication, problem solving, organizational and delegation skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT or other related field, or 5-7 years as an Unix Systems Administrator Knowledge of UNIX and LINUX operating systems, storage environments, file systems, and network protocols Demonstrated experience maintaining the integrity and security of a Unix/Linux environment Detailed knowledge of UNIX principles, file editing, UNIX commands, and file manipulation Desired Qualifications: Virtualization experience preferred Previous DoD experience is preferred Who we are Smartronix, an OceanSound Partners company, delivers advanced solutions in digital modernization, cloud, cybersecurity, mission-focused engineering, systems integration and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities.
