Job DetailsLevelExperiencedJob LocationSalisbury - Salisbury, MDPosition TypeFull TimeEducation Level4 Year DegreeTravel PercentageUp to 50% Job ShiftDayJob CategoryHuman ResourcesDescriptionSummary/Objective:The Human Resources Generalist administers the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions in assigned region and will carry out responsibilities the following functional areas: recruiting, HRIS, employee relations, training and development, benefits.Essential Functions:Coordinate staffing and job openings with Staffing and Employee Relations Supervisor. Conduct recruitment efforts for assigned territory to include: advertising and internal postings; application and resume review; scheduling and conducting interviews; scheduling and tracking pre-employment testing, background and reference checks.Coordinate all potential offers of employment with Staffing and Employee Relations Supervisor. Prepare offer letters for review and schedule new-hire orientation.Communicate with applicants and respond to employment inquiries. Follow-up with applicants during each stage of the hiring process. Effectively update all applicants in the HRIS system throughout the hiring process (from receipt of application to reject or offer).Attend recruiting events/job fairs to recruit qualified candidates and promote the company.Act as the point of contact for managers and employees and assist them in navigating various policies, processes, procedures within the company. Respond to questions and inquiries or escalate to appropriate HR team member.Use independent judgement and discretion when making hiring and disciplinary decisions.Act as initial contact for accident and injury reports. Prepare and maintain appropriate documentation and reports. Escalate accident and injury claims to appropriate Safety team member as needed.Intake and process windshield claims and subsequent invoices.Track and maintain DOT required documents and records.Track DOT physical renewals and ensure physicals are completed prior to expiration.Update and maintain DOT and driver related information/changes in the HRIS system and any other required databases.Maintain adequate inventory of safety supplies. Order as necessary.Assist in scheduling required employee training. Maintain and update training records and appropriate databases.Educate employees on the benefits available to them and assist them as needed with paperwork, general questions, etc. Escalate issues or concerns to the Benefits Administrator as needed.Keep Benefits Administrator abreast of any potential FMLA or ADA issues or concerns.Assist Benefits Administrator and participate in open enrollment meetings.Other duties as assigned.Non-Essential Functions:Participate with the HR department in performing monthly site visits to all locations, including attending Chaney Chats.Maintain a regular presence at sites in assigned territory.Assist in planning company events, such as the annual roadeo/picnic and holiday party.Perform safety inspections or accident investigations as needed.Fill in as needed for colleagues.QualificationsWork Environment:Work time will be mainly indoors/office with some time spent outdoors/field.Exposure to dust, fumes/offensive smells, and chemicals (fuel, concrete) in the field.Close proximity to moving mechanical parts when in the field.Noise level varies from low to loud depending on location, ie, office to plant, respectively.Physical Demands:Lift a maximum weight of 35 lbs. and carry up to 35 lbs. on occasion.Sit approximately 6 hours per day and walk or stand the other 2 hours per day.ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONSExperience:Three to five years' experience in Human Resources.Special Skills:Written communication, verbal communication, and mathematical skills.Ability to use a computer, including Microsoft Office with a focus on Word and Excel.Knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS). Knowledge of various employment laws and practices.Excellent interpersonal skills.Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.Excellent organizational skills.Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.Certifications:SHRM member (preferred)PHR or SHRM-CP (preferred)Industry Related Experience or Skills:N/AEducation Required: College/Undergrad (however any combination of training, education and experience which provides similar knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered).Preferred Education: N/ABilingual in Spanish Preferred: Yes
