Learn more about this agency Responsibilities Serves as a Government Information Specialist responsible for planning, developing, analyzing, evaluating, administering and managing all aspects of the Freedom of Information Act/Privacy Act (FOIA/PA) programs. Independently reviews requested information for clearance to determine if information should be disclosed to the public or should be FOIA exempt. Advises senior leadership on issues/concerns that may affect the MTF. Grants official request to obtain information from agencies/incumbents to gain access to military medical documents, research and development of records and automated systems. Interprets civil law and court decisions affecting policy development impacting FOIA regulations, guidelines, statutes, laws, which may directly affect the MTF. Provides advice to management/senior leadership on policies and procedures concerning the release of FOIA/PA disclosure of sensitive information to the general public. Process and tracks FOIA/PA requests through FOIA Xpress automated system; runs reports and prepares briefing for senior leadership, identifying trends and findings on requests. Responsible for policy and training development as well as the execution, administration and conduct for all FOIA/PA programs for the MTF. Conducts training to staff as necessary. Responds to members of Congress, the public, media, other agencies, and employees/officials who are seeking information about procedures and/or technical assistance.
