Position Summary: Prepare engineering analysis, design and written specifications which include schematics; training plans; and testing procedures for Company related projects. They must be able to assist with installation; alteration; calibration; and maintenance of electronic equipment and systems. Position Duties and Responsibilities: Perform cost estimating of CCTV, Access Control & Intrusion Detection Systems. Manage the design process, create material list and project scope documents. Survey existing security systems and provide detailed upgrade or replacement information Create submittal packages of designed systems. Create drawings, including floor plans, details, and elevations using AutoCAD. Coordinate engineering deliverable schedules with project stakeholders Create as-built drawings and documentation. Prepare design documents, specifications and drawings required for design/build projects Develop bill of materials, battery calculations, and sequence of operations. Create required submittal packages for designed systems. Create submittal and permit drawings, including floor plans, details, and elevations using AutoCAD. Coordinate engineering deliverable schedule with project manager Create as-built drawings and documentation. Prepare design documents, specifications, and drawings required for design/build projects Meet with customer to determine need and formulate design. Complete site evaluation to determine customer requirements and design specifications Prepare engineering analysis of projects to include: preliminary design, calculation, life cycle cost and equipment selection. Coordinates with other company departments to assist in establishing the project scope. Assist with the designs of wired; wireless; and voice networks. Maintain records of work completed and in-progress. Update documentation to record installations; upgrades; and configurations Manage project issues, schedule of work, proposed changes to project, material selection and overall project costs. Provide technical support and instructional guidance to internal and external users. Position Specifications: Skills: A complete understanding of the principles and concepts of access control, intrusion detection and camera surveillance systems. Demonstrated ability in AutoCAD, Excel, and Word. The ability to provide detailed material and labor cost estimates. Understanding of sprinkler and mechanical HVAC systems and their integration with fire alarm systems. Proficient in reading and understanding RFP documents, contract specifications, life safety, architectural and electrical drawings. The ability to review any local, state, or federal codes and interpret these codes related to a project. Able to use hand tools and test equipment. General knowledge of electrical circuitry and network principles. Read/understand technical drawings and programming guides. Abilities: Arrive for work as directed. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, management and peers. Advanced computer skills and software knowledge to include MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) and other company software. Microsoft Server OS and SQL knowledge. Develop goals, prioritize and organize tasks to accomplish the project. Anticipate and resolve problem/changes; seek assistance as required. Interact with clients in a professional, customer service oriented manner. Manage schedule to ensure tasks are completed in accordance with project schedule. Physical Requirements: Must be able to work at a computer/keyboard in an office environment. Qualifications: Education: Minimum: High School Diploma or GED Preferred: Course work in Engineering or Programming Work Experience: Minimum: 3 years experience in security system design (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion, Detection) Preferred: 3+ years of experience in a similar position, DCJS Electronic Security Technician Disclaimer: This job description should not be construed to imply that these requirements are the exclusive standards of the position.
