Description: Position Title: Controller Job Classification: Exempt; Full Time Position Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer Job Summary: The Controller is primarily responsible to manage the accounting records and for the production of financial reports. The Controller oversees employees in the Bookkeeping and Payroll departments and is responsible for overseeing accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, and compliance. The Controller performs the essential functions of the position noted below, while meeting the quality and service standards developed be the agency. Supervisory Responsibilities: Bookkeeping and Payroll department Essential Functions: Assist senior leadership with high-level financial decisions Work with the Director of Finance to prepare financial documents Prepare monthly financial reports and work with the Director of Finance on month-end close process Supervise employees who work under the controller Supervise, and provide final sign-off, on payroll processing Understand the financial statements in order to meet legal requirements and keep the financial state in good standing Prepare and reconcile documentation for internal and external auditors Oversee accounts receivable processes and procedures Analyze various reports for Senior Management to assist in strategic analysis and planning Oversee the management of Fixed Asset accounting and reconciliation Perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to interpret abstract information. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and achieve results in a fast-paced and changing environment. Confident, self-starter who works well independently. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and multi-task. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. . Requirements: Education and Experience: Master's Degree in finance or accounting. Advance coursework, or Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license preferred Minimum of five (5) years accounting experience required, preferably in a shared services accounting environment. Previous experience with an Insurance Brokerage preferred. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. This includes repeating motions that involve the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Position may require the employee to ascend and/or descend ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like. High stress, fast-paced environment with a high volume of work to be completed daily. Limited physical effort required or exposure to physical risk. However, must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
