Principal Associate, Process Management- Enterprise Abandoned Property

Overview:

This role in Capital One Bank Operations, is responsible for key processes on the Enterprise Abandoned Property team in Retail Bank Operations. The Abandoned Property team is responsible for delivering on critical regulatory obligations ensuring that all unclaimed properties across Capital One e.g bank accounts, checks, safe deposit boxes, etc. are identified and transferred to state treasury departments in compliance with each state's escheat laws and regulations. Annually, over a million unclaimed properties from all lines of business at Capital One are escheated by this team to all 50 states.

As a key leader on the Enterprise Abandoned Property team, you will:

  • Own business processes to identify unclaimed properties, execute communication campaigns (e.g. letters, newspaper advertisements, etc.) to contact unclaimed property owners, and file unclaimed property reports with the states.
  • Design and implement controls to ensure quality, accuracy and timeliness of unclaimed property data and reporting information
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, lead process improvements projects and collaborate on initiatives that improve business efficiency or mitigate risk.
  • Provide insights based on subject matter expertise to drive desired outcomes and to ensure that risks from changes in business or product strategy are mitigated.
  • Produce dashboards and reports to create visibility into results and issues for business partners and senior leaders.
  • Develop and maintain process documents including procedures, job aids and process flow diagrams.
  • Provide exceptional leadership and development coaching to a team of 3-5 associates.


The ideal candidate will have a solid background in process management, and experience with back-office processes in leading banking and financial services institutions. Familiarity with Abandoned Property operations is preferred but not required. The candidate must be capable of developing an understanding of Capital One's banking products, technology, data and delivery platforms. In addition, they must be able to effectively communicate with and influence partners and stakeholders across the company. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic, learning oriented culture are essential to success in this role. This individual must display strong ownership, solid organizational skills and a self-starter attitude in order to elevate their function to the next level.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Certification
  • At least 2 years of Process Management experience OR at least 2 years of Project Management experience OR at least 2 years of Risk Management experience
  • At least 2 years experience in process improvement projects and process redesign
  • At least 2 years of People Leadership experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years of Banking Operations experience
  • Certification in Lean, Agile, Six Sigma, Business Process Management, or Project Management methodologies
