Incumbent serves as an Information Technology (IT) Cybersecurity Specialist resolving highly complex and controversial IT application issues, supporting network and systems security functions, defining objectives, and interpreting policies that systems rely on to meet their mission requirements. Performs assigned functions in the following Policy Audit and Administration Section: Policy, Audit and Compliance (PAC) and Cybersecurity Shared Services Program (CSSP).

  • Responsible for enforcing, monitoring, and assessing the effectiveness of the Assessment and Authorization, Information System Continuous Monitory (ISCM) and Authorization to Operate programs.
  • Responsible for managing the Cybersecurity Shared Services Program (CSSP) by standardizing and formalizing processes, cost model, and marketing materials.
  • Support acquiring and onboarding new customers, ensuring requirements and SLAs are met and providing excellent customer service.
  • Manage work involved in the end-to-end development of new network operation with complex designs.
  • Resolve network/application/information security interface and interoperability problems.
  • Assists in reviewing final network installation and system plans for additional security risks not identified during proposal stages.

Occasional travel - Business travel required 10% of the time.

  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). Applicants must pass a drug screen prior to employment and be subject to random drug testing for the duration of employment.


To qualify for the position of IT Cybersecurity Specialist (PLCYPLN) at (GS-2210-14), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.

Basic Qualifications:

1) Attention to Detail -

4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.


Specialized Experience Statement: For the GS 15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS 14 in the Federal service. At a minimum, specialized experience must be in or related to the following:

1) Planning, analyzing, designing, developing, and testing the installation, implementation, integration, maintenance, and/or management of network security systems;
2) Develop marketing strategies, marketing content, and lead sales presentations of cybersecurity products and/or services to prospective customers; and/or
3) Establish retention strategies and manage relationships with current cybersecurity customers at the senior leadership level.
