Job Announcement

As a senior member of the Geospatial Applications and Systems Branch in the Geographic Information Systems Division of the Department of Information Technology (DIT), this position is a technical and business expert in the field of geospatial technology, responsible for providing technologically based geographic services to county agencies and the public with a focus on enterprise system administration.

This position is responsible for the following:
  • Building and maintaining enterprise GIS systems.
  • Designing and supporting system integrations between GIS and systems owned or operated by other county agencies,
  • Designing and implementing the automation of system administration and data transformation tasks via scripts.
  • Maintaining GIS division servers; installing, monitoring, and supporting enterprise GIS software.
  • Participating in the evaluation of new systems and services that include a GIS component
  • Performing software configuration management duties as part of the application development and deployment process.
  • Performing expert level spatial analysis.
  • This position will act as a consultant with agencies' GIS and IT analysts to determine requirements for GIS solutions and data.
  • Works as a liaison with county agencies to ensure that COTS software packages requiring GIS are properly integrated with the enterprise GIS system.


Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, geography or related field which included coursework in Oracle and/or another complex database platform; plus two years of experience in working with and developing systems utilizing GIS platforms such as ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop or Server software suites; or performing GIS modeling (e.g., relationship classes, topologies, 3-D, object, data) and spatial analysis (e.g., proximity analysis, image analysis, routing analysis).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Six years of GIS system administration experience including at least two years of experience with the ArcGIS Enterprise suite specifically Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Server. The preferred candidate will also have some experience with other ArcGIS Enterprise software including ArcGIS Image Server and ArcGIS GeoEvent Server. At least two years of GIS related script development experience preferably using Python. Experience with GIS specific APIs such as ArcPy, ArcGIS API for Python, and ArcGIS REST APIs. Knowledge of software development and debugging tools and techniques including experience with Visual Studio, browser-based development and diagnostic tools, and Jupyter Notebooks. Experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Desktop including AddIns such as Spatial Analyst and Network Analyst. Understanding of database modeling techniques, ability to design complex datasets to meet the needs of GIS applications and systems, and SQL. Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products. Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to work well with others in a team environment. Ability to work independently with little supervision.
