Job Details
Serves as a technical expert, plans and directs capital renewal projects and construction activities for HVAC and plumbing systems. Manages projects from discovery and design to development and implementation including but not limited to identification of need, development of scope of work, oversee design, develop bid package, provides submittal review and approvals, performs construction inspections, approves invoices, tracks payments, and through warranty period. Maintains complete control of project schedule, budget and risk issues. Primary responsibilities are to ensure the timely completions of projects assigned, consistent with quality standards of the Facilities Management Department and industry standards, as well as, ensuring projects are financially and operationally viable and completed in a cost-efficient manner. Serves as a senior project manager responsible for large scale and/or multiple complex HVAC and/or Plumbing capital renewal projects. Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques relating to construction project management and contract administration. Strong knowledge and experience with HVAC, plumbing and building automation control system end of life replacement projects. Works u nder the guidance and general direction of an Engineer IV and/or Assistant Director of Design , Engineering and Construction

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Environmental or Life Sciences, Construction Management, Business Administration, Facilities Management or related; PLUS
Five years of experience in the management of large and complex construction or maintenance projects to include two years managing multi-disciplinary teams with multiple contractors.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with a strong background in complex commercial HVAC and plumbing systems renewal project management. Knowledge of Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and the codes and ordinances which apply to building construction in Fairfax County.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Driver's license.

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, and driver's license check to the satisfaction of the employer.

- Must be able to access facility equipment and equipment rooms.

- Vision to see detail drawings, construction and discern color.
