The Community, State and National Affairs (CSNA) team is a key contributor to AARP's mission of social change for Americans 50+ and their families. CSNA drives social change through our advocacy work by giving our members a voice-at the federal, state, local levels and community levels-on issues important to them such as Financial Resilience, Health Security, and Personal Fulfillment.

With a network of 53 offices in each state, the US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, we live where we work. This allows us to do what we do best...meet the people and directly engage in our communities to find out what they need and want, enabling us to educate our members with programs and information that is relevant to them.

Our state offices work hand-in-glove with AARP's national office in Washington, DC. This reach-from community to state to federal - enables CSNA to better empower people 50+ to enjoy the way they live and work today, while reaching their goals for tomorrow...their life - their way.
Summary

AARP Programs Caregiving & Health team seeks a qualified, post-graduate level intern to join the team in 2021. You must be motivated, energetic, and willing to collaborate with the team to help them achieve their goals to support the over 40 million family caregivers in the US who need help caring for their loved ones. As an intern, you will gain valuable work experience with an opportunity to expand your knowledge of our programs and operations. In this internship, you will build your resume while gaining first-hand knowledge of how the nation's largest non-profit organization works, develops, and conveys its programs and messages to 38 million members across the United States.
Responsibilities

This internship includes but is not limited to supporting communications, operations, research, and other duties. As an intern, you will gain valuable work experience with an opportunity to expand your knowledge of our programs and operations.

Responsibilities Include:
• Work closely with the staff in the Programs department to support the VP and team with timely operational, communications, marketing and research.
• Prepare materials utilizing PowerPoint, Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets.
• Maintain confidentiality of all AARP's internal information
• Gather research and compile information on a variety of topics. This could include online searches, reviewing publications, handling databases, and accessing library materials.

Requirements

Prospective interns must be currently enrolled in a post graduate level degree program at an accredited college or university as a graduate student, or post-doctoral student; and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship.
Compensation and Benefits

Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.

As a result of the COVID pandemic, all interviews will be held virtually and all non-essential employees will continue to work remotely until further notice.
