Summary

The MIL Corporation seeks a Systems Engineering, Associate [Storage & Backup System Engineer (Level III)] to support a Federal Government client at our Bethesda, MD location. The System Engineer will design and build storage and backup solutions and strategies to support large storage volumes; manage backup and recovery tools and systems for servers (physical and virtual), applications, and workstations; and facilitate migration of storage and backup solutions to cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Review, recommend, plan, and implement migration of client storage, applications, and services to cloud services and platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Schedule and automated full, incremental, and ad hoc backups of client systems, and monitor to ensure backups are completed as scheduled.
  • Perform data backups for all servers on daily and weekly rotations and deposit data offsite weekly for COOP and disaster recovery purposes.
  • Ensure end-users can access and share data at a user level based on defined permissions.
  • Ensure the client enterprise storage solution can transfer the data to storage as they are generated.
  • Ensure the client data sharing solution allows external collaborators to share data easily without any technical burden that would inhibit the use of the solution.
  • Implement and support a storage solution which stores both structured and unstructured data (e.g., video files, documents) and retrieves them in time for supporting mission requirements.
  • Following and recommending best practices.
  • Collaborating with contract team and Federal customers to promote a positive, helpful, and inclusive environment.
  • Managing tasks to meet customer SLAs and expectations, communicate issues and recommend remediation.
  • Performing other tasks as assigned.

Desired Qualifications
  • Eight (8) or more years designing, building storage and backup solutions in a virtualized, mission critical environment supporting large storage volumes.
  • Eight (8) or more years' experience designing backup solution and ensuring backups are completed as scheduled.
  • Eight (8) or more years managing all backup and recovery tools and systems, and in the deployment of backup strategies for all infrastructure components.
  • Eight (8) or more years' experience in a lead role on storage related projects involving on-premises and cloud.
  • Hands on experience installing and configuring backup solutions such as CommVault or Cohesity.
  • Five (5) or more year hands on experience with Dell storage solutions (Isilon NAS, Unity SAN).
  • Three (3) or more years' experience with Cohesity storage solutions or similar hyper-converged solution.
  • Five (5) or more years hands on experience with on-premises or Cloud to Cloud backup migration.
  • Eight (8) or more years' experience planning storage projects and assess business implications for each stage.
  • Eight (8) or more years' experience supporting, planning, and building infrastructure supporting COOP & DR plans.
  • Dell Storage Specialist certification or equivalent.
  • Hands on experience migrating on-prem infrastructure to the Cloud.
  • Experience with various cloud hosting providers (i.e., AWS, Azure).
  • Skills in the following key areas including strategic thinking, multi-tasking, time management, planning and executing to a defined schedule.
