The Material Expediter will perform a variety of general duties including: monitoring/maintaining materials, processing repairs, consumables, spare parts, property receipts, computerized inventory control transactions, and packing slip verification and reconciliation. The Material Expediter may perform physical inventories, order picking, fulfillment, kitting, researching orders for discrepancies, and/or providing clerical support for the division.

  • Maintains and updates daily, quarterly, and annual inventory counts using computer.
  • Assists in maintaining records and conducting and coordinating reorder inventories and cycle counts by recording quantity and type of material/parts distributed and on-hand.
  • Checks stock items for reorder and prepare reorder requests.
  • Analyzes inventory levels and product demand to determine reorder levels in order to ensure product availability and minimize inventory costs. Accomplishes this by keepingrelated records, reviewing repair/production inventory reports to determine types, quantities and availability of required materials.
  • Researches inventory discrepancies and issues.
  • Stocks merchandise for repair parts inventory in appropriate locations. Locates andmoves materials/parts to specified areas using cart or hand truck.
  • Adheres to standard operating procedures and ensures the basic plan of organization is established and observed. Recommends appropriate changes/modifications if needed to the asset manager.
  • Oversees and participates in the receipt, ordering, stocking and issuing of supplies and materials.
  • Compares work orders/tickets with material on-hand to verify appropriateness of parts being used.
  • Follows up on overdue shipments with buyers and/or vendors.
  • Communicates with personnel in other departments and local Asset Manager to resolve issues as needed. Confers with department supervisors formally and informally to determined materials overdue and inform them of location/availability/condition of material.
  • Creates shelving and bin labeling, as needed, and maintains the database and locations.
  • Evaluates excess and obsolete inventory and makes recommendations, as needed.
  • Updates inventory management databases to reflect redeployments and custodial changes.
  • Enters new equipment information in the database.
  • Responds to queries concerning distribution of equipment and advise management of equipment availability status.
  • Ensures new equipment received for distribution is bar coded and input in PIMS/SAP.
  • Provides assistance during annual PIMS inventory.
  • Processes requests for and distribution of equipment and supplies to the field.
  • Accurately pick inventory items from designated locations using picking tickets and other Reports.
  • Locates and moves materials and parts between work areas to expedite processing of goods/equipment.
  • Stages merchandise for shipping and complete necessary documents.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 5 years related experience required to include; experience with MAXIMO 7.1 (ILSS) - or a computerized maintenance management system; experience with REMEDY or similar system.
  • Must have suitable computer background to be trained on ICAD - a CBP software program that manages the inventory of ground sensor equipment.
  • Will be required to pass a CBP Background Investigation (BI).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Detailed oriented and the ability to effectively coordinate multiple resources, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and work under limited supervision.
  • Be trainable to be proficient with SAP software - the Office of Border Patrol's asset

management software program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management on all levels, strong relationship

building and customer service skills.
  • Must possess a basic understanding of inventory planning and control concepts and

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential.

Must have the ability to work extended hours, weekends or Holidays if required
