The Health Analysis Division is seeking a unit chief to manage and direct analyses of federal programs and policies that focus on health and health care markets, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private health insurance.

Responsibilities
The Health Analysis Division is seeking a unit chief to manage and direct analyses of federal programs and policies that focus on health and health care markets, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private health insurance. The unit chief will focus on issues of current or potential legislative interest to the Congress by developing and implementing an agenda for studies about the budgetary and economic effects of potential legislative proposals; designing and improving the models used in analysis; making contributions to cost estimates; and managing the development, writing, and review of reports and other publications.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tier 1 Security Clearance
Qualifications
The unit chief will supervise a staff of about seven analysts, most of whom have advanced degrees in economics; manage projects that are also staffed by analysts from other parts of CBO; and contribute to guiding the division and the agencys analysis of health policy. The unit chief will work in close coordination with CBOs Budget Analysis Division to expand the agencys capacity to provide additional information about legislation to the Congress as it is being considered.
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have an advanced degree in policy analysis, health policy, economics, or a related discipline and at least eight years of relevant experience. Applicants must also have experience leading analytical projects or teams, strong quantitative skills, and substantial knowledge of the institutional details of health care markets and federal health care programs. The position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly present work orally and in writing to nontechnical audiences. Experience managing the written work of other analysts is a plus.
