Due to the Pandemic, and individual states with different phases of reopening, the selectee's report date to the official duty station/facility may be delayed until such time as employees are allowed to report to the workplace. The person selected may telework up to the maximum extent possible, up to and including full time, until it is safe to relocate.

The Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM) develops and manages medical programs in support of Aviation Safety.

Serves as a Management Assistant to the Medical Appeals Branch Manager. Performs basic administrative functions and provides standard information in support of administrative programs, policies, and procedures.

Assists in maintaining control over management calendars, meetings, and appointments; assists in ensuring management is fully briefed before scheduled meetings. Assists in handling sensitive/non-sensitive medical documents for scanning into records; ensures proper titling in accordance with office procedures.

Monitors and determines appropriate action for incoming correspondence, phone calls, and visitors; reads and reviews outgoing correspondence for procedural and grammatical accuracy and conformance to policies. Ensures receipt of time-sensitive correspondence, is promptly logged in tracking system and brought to the attention of management, and responses are completed by the due date.

Composes and types correspondence, reports, and other material for branch manager or key senior leaders in accordance with policies and procedures; reports, makes arrangements for meetings and conferences; locates and assembles information for various reports, briefings, conferences, etc.

Established policies/procedures provide detailed guidance for most tasks with little or no room for discretion. Works under detailed instructions. Refers problems and/or work issues to the manager or more experienced employee for guidance. Work is reviewed regularly during assigned tasks and at completion. Assigned work supports and contributes to the activities of the assigned organizational unit.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Occasional travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other work-related duties.
