Responsibilities

The incumbent serves as a National Traffic Management Officer (NTMO) at the Air Traffic Control System Command Center, responsible for planning and directing operations in delegated areas of responsibility. Provides first line supervision to a team of developmental and certified traffic management specialists (TMS), and Central Altitude Reservation Function (CARF) specialists, who are responsible for the safe, efficient, secure and sustainable operation of the National Airspace System (NAS). Directly participates in traffic management activities and performs an integral operational role in the separation and control of air traffic in the NAS.

Occasional travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other work-related duties.

• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

• This position is covered by P.L. 92-297 for early retirement purposes.
• The person selected for this position must maintain medical clearance.
• A one year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required.

Qualifications

Candidates must show specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as:

1)Must have held an FAA 2152-FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year (52 weeks); OR

2)Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility OR

3) Must have held a MSS position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility (see NOTE)

NOTE: An employee who has been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility that is upgraded is considered to meet the qualification requirements of the upgraded position, since he or she has been performing the higher graded work.

NOTE: There are no restrictions on who can apply to MSS vacancies at those facilities with 3 or less MSS levels.

AND In addition to the qualifications listed above for MSS positions, the chart on MSS positions will be used to determine which career level applicants are qualified to make application.

Candidates will be evaluated on four "Managerial Selection Factors"

Managerial Selection Factors: Candidates must provide separate narrative responses to address his/her experience in MWP Selection Factors 1 through 4. Applicants who fail to address the Leadership and Management Dimensions on-line will be disqualified.

Requirement for Security Clearance: Selection and placement are contingent upon waiver or completion of satisfactory security requirement. This position requires completion and favorable adjudication of an Access National Agency Check with Inquiry (ANACI) background investigation prior to appointment unless a waiver is obtained. Subject to a 10-year period re-investigation.
