School of Nursing - Simulation Center Coordinator

The George Mason University, College of Health and Human Services, School of Nursing (SoN) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month administrative/professional faculty position with responsibility to further develop and integrate simulation into nursing education at Mason as a means to improve patient safety, improve clinical outcomes and promote excellence in learning and clinical practice. About the Department: The School currently enrolls over 700 students, with robust Baccalaureate and Master's programs. Our highly ranked Doctoral of Nursing Practice (DNP) program includes concentrations in family practice, psychiatric mental health, and adult gerontology. The PhD in Nursing program has produced leaders in research, academia, and administration, both domestic and global, for nearly 40 years. About the Position: This position requires a Virginia RN license, minimum of an MSN degree, and two to three years recent clinical experience. Preference is given to candidates with national certification in healthcare simulation (e.g., CHSE).

Responsibilities: * Oversee development of the school of nursing simulation curriculum and integration throughout undergraduate and graduate programming; * Train faculty, staff and students in use of simulation; * Collaborate with faculty to develop simulation-based curricula to meet the needs of users; * Evaluate use of simulation by faculty and students to inform ongoing development and training; * Maintain equipment and technology infrastructure in coordination with the director of information technology and security; * Develop policies and procedures to assure safe and rigorous use of simulation by faculty, staff and students; * Coordinate procurement, training and appropriate use of standardized patients; * Promote the integration of new and emerging simulation technologies into the curriculum; * Promote the development of simulation-based interprofessional training in collaboration with other health professions within CHHS; * Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: * An unencumbered Virginia Registered Nurse license, or eligibility to obtain upon employment; * An earned Master's degree (MSN) in nursing; * A minimum of two years recent clinical experience in a healthcare setting; * Previous simulation center experience with high, medium, and low fidelity simulators, including developing and running simulation scenarios and debriefings, working with vendors on software and hardware upgrades and replacement, and experience in assessing and troubleshooting equipment failures; * Knowledge of A-V equipment and software for recording, duplication, mixing, and editing of recorded scenarios; * Experience with software tracking tools.

Preferred Qualifications: * Simulation immersion training and certification is desired; * Terminal degree in nursing or related field; * A minimum of one year of teaching experience in a nursing program is preferred.
