This position is located in the Office of the Director (OD) of the National Science Foundation. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Renewing NSF project manager. The incumbent provides staff assistance, and is the recognized expert, in such broad areas of management as budget, planning, and organizational analyses relating to Renewing NSF, and performs a wide range of complex duties with respect to OD management activities for Renewing NSF.

As the Management Analyst (Renewing NSF Project Manager), you will perform the following duties:
  • Carrying out a wide variety of project management, administrative and staff functions, including external liaison activities to ensure coordination with other Foundation offices and outside organizations.
  • Responsible for all aspects of developing plans for and tracking progress of the Renewing NSF initiative.
  • Work closely with an NSF-wide advisory committee consisting of leaders from across the agency.
  • Developing the necessary products to articulate project plans to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Tracking and reporting on the program's progress inimplementing various aspects of the project.
  • Coordinating activities with numerous entities to ensure that all interests are represented and addressed.
  • Convening regular planning sessions to capture key schedule and budget (if relevant) revisions to meet deadlines.
  • Organizing and managing day-to-day activities of the Renewing NSF effort to ensure the accomplishment of all critical project tasks and milestones within established, timeframes and performance measures.
  • Preparing a comprehensive plan to include the proper sequencing of events and tracking of both processes and budgets (if applicable) throughout the project such that the needs of the various NSF organizations are met.
  • Assisting with the development of content to communicate the Renewing NSF effort.
  • Liaising with the NSF Office of Legislative and Public Affairs, Office of Budget, Finance, and Award Management, Office of Integrative Activities (including the Evaluation and Assessment Capability), Office of Information and Resource Management, and other units within the Foundation.
  • Participating in regular meetings with the NSF Director, Deputy Director/Chief Operating Officer, and other senior staff across the Foundation to apprise of any significant developments and provide updates concerning the status of this effort.

To qualify at the GS-14 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include the following: participating in comprehensive management studies; developing long-range and short-range planning guidance in accordance with organizational or programmatic policies and objectives; participating in complex studies requiring applications of advanced analytical and statistical methods and techniques; and providing input in the budget formulation process.

To qualify at the GS-15 level you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include the following: designing and conducting comprehensive management studies; preparing long-range and short-range planning guidance in accordance with broad organizational or programmatic policies and objectives; directing complex studies requiring applications of advanced analytical and statistical methods and techniques; and participating in the budget formulation process.


Education may enhance skills required for this position; however, no substitution of education for specialized experience may be made at this level.
