Job Description

The Washington Post is seeking a multiplatform editor to work on apps and distributed news partnerships.

This role requires a well-rounded journalist with experience curating and editing in a fast-paced newsroom environment. The ideal candidate will have strong news judgment, sharp headline- and alert-writing skills and the ability to respond quickly to breaking news. As part of Emerging News Products' Curation & Platforms team, candidates should be excited to work on new products and technology.

On a daily basis, this editor will be expected to curate a balanced editorial package that highlights the most important and interesting news, including smart, clear headlines and bold, thoughtful production to maximize each story's visual impact. We want someone grounded in classic journalism values, who is comfortable multitasking and can think quickly and creatively about how to deliver journalism to new audiences on platforms such as Apple News, Snapchat and Facebook News. Copy editing or app experience is a plus.

This position is based in our Washington newsroom. Once we resume normal operations beginning this summer, it will not be eligible for remote work. Night and weekend work is required.

The Post strives to provide its readers with high-quality, trustworthy news and information while constantly innovating. That mission is best served by a diverse, multi-generational workforce with varied life experiences and perspectives. All cultures and backgrounds are welcomed.

Those interested should upload a résumé and cover letter explaining your strengths to our jobs portal by May 5. The cover letter should be addressed to Curation & Platforms Editor Ben Pillow, Head of Mobile Strategy Coleen O'Lear and Managing Editors Tracy Grant and Krissah Thompson.
