To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/20/2021.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: This work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing in excess of 100+ pounds). with proper assistance, moves heavier items' weighing over 40 pounds.

- Distributes and balances the workload among employees in accordance with the established workflow or job specialization and assures timely accomplishment of assigned workflow.
- Monitors status and progress of work , makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities. Obtains from supervisor on problems that may arise , such as backlogs which cannot be disposed of promptly .
- Estimates and reports on expected time of completion of work .
- Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions , reference materials and supplies .
- Gives on the job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices .
- Maintains current knowledge and answers questions of other employees on procedures, policies directives, or other guidelines as necessary and obtains needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems that come up .
- Checks on work progress or spot checks work not requiring review . Reviews completed work to see that supervisor instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met.
- Monitors working conditions .
- resolves simple, informal complaints of employees and refers other to supervisor.
- Approves leave for a few hours or for emergencies .
- Reports to supervisor on performance, progress and training needs of employees, and on behavior problems or issues.
- Provides information to supervisor as requested concerning promotions, reassignments, recognition of outstanding performance, and personal needs .
- Provides wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and materials.
- Scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing, and the distribution of medical and surgical supplies.
- Pulling stock inventory and material from main inventory for delivery.
- Maintaining records on stock levels.
- Communicating with customers and vendors to obtain information regarding medical supplies.
- Receives supplies and material into the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area.
- Unpacks/uncrates supplies from shipping cartons.
- Utilize a computerized inventory system, to ensure sterility and integrity of the supplies and material and the date integrity of the inventory management system.
