Summary

This position is part of the Bureau of Trust Funds Administration (BTFA). As a Records and Information Management Specialist you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and participate with senior specialists in the coordination, development and issuance of records and information management regulations, policies and procedures, and delivering training to staff.

Responsibilities

As a Records and Information Management Specialist GS-0308-12, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:
  • Perform moderately complex functions in the management of records and information, analysis, and training.
  • Participate with senior specialist in the coordination, development and issuance of records and information management regulations, policies and procedures, and deliver training.
  • Assist in the coordination of records scheduling and associated activities in relation to the collection, use and dissemination of Information Technology generated data, digitization projects, and team projects.
  • Interpret policy, formulate procedures on records and information management, and use of records management tools to ensure agency compliance with the Privacy Act and Federal statues.
  • Deliver specialized training to staff on the implementation and proper maintenance of records and information management policies, procedures and regulations, and guidance on all aspects of the records and information management life cycle.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards . For this position, they are listed below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through Nation Service programs (e.g. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps) and other organizations. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Experience assisting in the coordination, development and issuance of records and information management regulations, policies and procedures of records management lifecycle concepts and standards; Provide oversight of records scheduling, collection, use and dissemination of Information Technology generated data, and digitization projects; Develop training manuals, curriculum development and facilitation of training methodologies; and Coordinate records management training for staff to ensure best practices and agency compliance with Federal statues.

Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement at this grade level. Therefore, no transcripts are required.

CTAP/ICTAP: Department of the Interior (DOI) Career Transition Assistance Plan ( CTAP ) procedures apply in filling this vacancy. 5 CFR 330, Career Transition Assistance for Surplus and Displaced Federal Employees requires the following order of selection for this position:
