Who we are looking forThe Systems Administrator-Unix team member will work with a group of UNIX/Linux Systems Administrators at the Patuxent River Data Center (PRDC). The Systems Administrator-Unix will ensure that all systems on Department of Defense (DoD) networks are appropriately patched and configured to the organizationally defined hardening policies. In this role, you will troubleshoot server errors, mange user accounts, respond to user issues, and monitor system performance. Responsibilities of the Systems Administrator-Unix include: Responsible for assisting with patching efforts for Dev/Test, Production, and Infrastructure patching windows across multiple DoD Enclaves Setting up and maintaining UNIX user accounts and access management systems Work collaboratively with other Data Center teams to provide Unix/Linux based solutions to meet business requirements. Responsible for the creation and maintenance of Ansible playbooks and other administrative shell scripting Create UNIX file systems, edit permissions and complete storage additions when needed (ZFS and LVM) Effectively analyze and resolve problems involving interaction between applications, server hardware/firmware/OS and storage by working with cross functional teams and equipment vendors with minimal supervision Participating in an on-call rotation Taking ownership of issues/outages and seeing that issues are resolved in a timely manor Detecting and troubleshooting software and hardware issues Provide effective communication to customer inquiries/issues Providing mentorship to team members when needed Required Skills and Experience: Clearance Required: Active DOD Secret Experience with Red Hat Satellite Experience with Red Had Identity Management or similar IDM Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT or other related field, or 5-7 years as an Unix Systems Administrator A minimum of 3 years of Unix/Linux experience is required Proficient Experience with UNIX/LINUX operating systems including RHEL7/8 with a strong emphasis on Solaris 11 Knowledge of DoD Information Assurance practices, including Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) process Knowledge of UNIX and LINUX operating systems, storage environments, file systems, and network protocols Demonstrated experience maintaining the integrity and security of a Unix/Linux environment Detailed knowledge of UNIX principles, file editing, UNIX commands, and file manipulation Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple assignments autonomously and in a team setting Effectively interact with peers, management, and the PRDC customer in a constantly evolving environment to ensure a positive customer experience and atmosphere in the workplace Desired Experience: Amazon Web Services (AWS) exposure is preferred Previous DoD experience is preferred Experience with Ansible, Ansible Tower, and administrative shell scripting is preferred Smartronix is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
