PHS Commissioned Corps (CC) Officers will be referred as CC personnel and not as a candidate for conversion to a permanent federal appointment. This position is located in the Health Resources Services Administration, Bureau of Health Workforce, Division of Medicine and Dentistry, Office of the Director.The duty location for this position is in Rockville, Maryland. **Applicants please note: Additional selections may be made across the Department of Health and Human Services through this vacancy announcement.** Physician positions are a mission critical occupation for HRSA. These positions are responsible for formulation of policy and programs administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration to provide advice and assistance to Bureaus, Department of Health and Human Services, and other Federal entities as related to the medical aspects of primary health care programs for underserved populations. As a Senior Physician, your major duties and responsibilities include: Providing strategic guidance and advice to the Division of Medicine and Dentistry and Bureau of Health Workforce on issues of physician workforce, oral health workforce, undergraduate and graduate medical education, primary care practice, preventive medicine, public health, and population health. Providing advice in the overarching strategic planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of Division programs to ensure they are well coordinated internally and within the government as well as with community initiatives; and, that outcomes are captured, maximized, and aligned with HRSA and Department goals. Working closely with Division leadership and working collaboratively with other Divisions and leaderships within the Bureau and HRSA, serving specifically as the Division's liaison on issues related to primary care, public health and medicine care. Serving as a national expert in health professional workforce policy and research for the Division and participating in national, state and local symposiums, meetings, seminars and other special events. Participating in the development and issuance of clinical and/or research policies and procedures and guidelines to implement new legislation and budgetary requirements and to effect improvements, as needed in Division programs and grants administration. If selected, official transcripts will be required. A . Degree : You must have a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association , Association of American Medical Colleges , Liaison Committee on Medical Education , Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association or an accrediting body recognized by the US Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Have a Degree from Foreign Medical School : A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country. OR Documentation that verifies successful completion of the US Medical Licensing Examination. AND GRADUATE TRAINING: Your resume must clearly indicate the starting (MM/YYYY) and ending dates (MM/YYYY) and where the training was completed. GRADUATE TRAINING: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, ie, a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below. An Internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (eg, internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the American Medical Association or Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) . A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training. AND ADDITIONAL TRAINING: 5 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training. Appropriate specialties are those related to the position being filled such as Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics/Gynecology or Preventive Medicine.
