Are you ready to move with us? The Role In this role, you will lead a team of 4-5 staff to oversee day to day projects and events in support of a large DC Government Affairs Communications client. This role will split time between our client's government affairs office and BCW's Washington DC office. Key deliverables for this account include managing communications related to government and association relations, drafting policy communications, overseeing event sponsorships, managing media and social monitoring team and leading research projects. The ideal team lead will have a background in public affairs with Hill experience. Responsibilities: Lead team in monitoring policy news and developments Act as point of contact for communications team with client and trade organizations Draft and review QA on different policy priorities, as well as develop communications/stakeholder outreach plans for those policies/announcements Draft internal communications on policy priorities for employees Draft external communications for use with important Capitol Hill decision-makers Work with internal team on strategy and communications surrounding GR PPE donations Coordinating Hill Reads and clip sheets for senior staff Responding to media inquiries, making sure the lobbyists have important communications flags Developing and cultivating relationships with clients and internal/external audiences. Recommending and implementing initiatives that will improve the public's perception of the client. Assessing national and global political developments to determine implications for client. Partnering with client and potentially other communications firms to develop and complete communications plans. Responding to media inquiries, helping to guide communications strategy and media outreach efforts. Preparing executives for media interviews and events. Acting as client representative at association meetings and events on Capitol Hill. Developing original research and market studies. Identifying and sharing government and related media issues for potentially monitoring and analysis. Overseeing the team conducting related social and media monitoring. Managing account administration such as staffing, billing, and financial reporting. Minimum of 5 to 8 years of previous public affairs work experience. Experience from the Hill is highly preferred, demonstrating an understanding of both policy and press functions. Seasoned writing skills; ability to write for senior level management and audiences. Ability to supervise and motivate account staff, and creative problem-solving skills. Ability to develop and deliver presentations and produce program outlines for creative brainstorms. Ability to successfully work both independently and within a matrixed organization. Strong strategic-thinking skills, and the ability to handle and manage stressful situations. Proven relationships with the media and familiarity with the newest media outlets. Required: Minimum of 5 to 8 years of previous public affairs work experience.
