Job Description

The Washington Post is looking for a strategic and results-driven partnerships professional who is passionate about driving the Post's digital subscriptions business and other franchises. In this role, you will source, negotiate, and enter into agreements with partners and will be responsible for managing the full life cycle of those relationships. The emphasis will be on driving growth outside the United States, in a few key markets. This role will also handle third-party relationships that are strategic in nature or are purely revenue-focused.

Responsibilities
  • Source, structure, negotiate and execute partnerships with entities across the spectrum (e.g. other publishers, large brands, entertainment, telecoms) that will help drive digital subscriptions volume and revenue.
  • Evaluate existing relationships with an eye toward optimizing performance and driving future growth.
  • Own the end-to-end relationship with partners and maintain senior executive-level contacts.
  • Produce quantitative and qualitative analysis of partner performance, drive business reviews with partners, and ensure the delivery of sustainable high impact results.
  • Analyze the market to prioritize target partners, present business cases and negotiate partner agreements.


Requirements
  • 7+ years of partnership or business development experience, ideally in an editorial, media, tech or a start-up environment
  • Demonstrated ability to see business development opportunities through from prospecting and negotiations, to term-sheet stage, contract redlines and execution
  • Experience creating basic financial models to evaluate partnerships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport within the organization and beyond it
  • Global mindset
  • Affinity for Washington Post content and ideally, knowledge and expertise in the nuances of a subscriptions-based business
  • BS/BA degree
  • MBA preferred
