SummaryThis position is located in The Office of Administration (ADM), Division of Facilities and Security (DFS), Security Management and Operations Branch (SMOB) The supervisor is Denis Brady.This position is Non Bargaining Unit. Learn more about this agency ResponsibilitiesThe Sr. Security Specialist will serve as the agency's authoritative expert on technical issues related to physical and facility security, and occupant emergency planning and management to assure continued effective oversight, coordination and implementation of NRC's facility security, occupant safety, and physical security programs. In addition, represents NRC interests on various governmental security policy and oversight committees to provide authoritative technical expertise, and advice in key technical and policy areas related to physical and facility security. Recommends and develops policies and procedures regarding specific facility and physical security programs consistent with national policies and regulations.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Serves as technical expert to the Chief, SMOB, the Director, DFS, and the Headquarters Designated Official (Director, ADM) on Continuity of Operations (COOP) plans, readiness and implementation. Provides expert advice on the termination of COOP activities based on an assessment of threat and facility conditions. ;Serves as the NRC technical expert for complex, specialized projects involving physical and facility security issues, with broad responsibility for agency wide technical oversight and coordination;Coordinates crucial agency interactions with external entities, both Government and industry, relating to physical and facility security issues and presents and defends NRC technical positions, concerns, objectives, and requirements;Reviews proposed agreements, protocols, regulations, legislation, policies, reports, memorandum, and other agency documentation relating to physical and facility security, and provides comments, analyses, or suggestions as appropriate; ANDMonitors the threat environment to NRC HQ and regional facilities, maintains close contact with other government and law enforcement agencies, and proposes strategies to effectively protect NRC personnel and assets in response to changing threat levels or actual incidents.Travel Required Occasional travel - Occasional travel up to 25%.Supervisory status No Promotion Potential 15 Job family (Series) 0080 Security Administration Help Requirements Conditions of Employment This is a Drug Testing position.
