Join our team and thrive in a career that matters to the world and you personally.Aerospace is seeking a Software Engineering Specialist in our Software Implementation & Integration department who will play a trusted role in helping government sponsors apply life-cycle software engineering methodologies and software development technologies to mission critical systems. The selected engineer will help our customers to integrate, scale, consolidate and modernize software systems to solve national security problems.Key FunctionsConducting assessments and audits of software projects and work products.Specifying and recommending measures for software processes and products.Developing tools for supporting the use of standards in software development.Providing software engineering expertise at technical interchange meetings, reviews, briefings, and personal contact with Aerospace, customer, and contractor personnel.Leading and participating in software development policy, standards, research, education, and technical community activities.Collaborating with management, departments and customers to identify end-user requirements and specificationsDesigning algorithms and flowcharts to create new software programs and systemsTesting and deploying programs and applicationsTroubleshooting, debugging, maintaining and improving existing softwareCompiling and assessing user feedback to improve software performanceObserving user feedback to recommend improvements to existing software productsDeveloping technical documentation to guide future software development projects.This position can be filled as a Software Engineering Specialist or Sr. Software Engineering Specialist.Qualifications Required for Software Engineering Specialist BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent technical area of studyTypically 8 or more years of professional experience in a software engineering roleFluent in one or more languages (eg, Python, Ruby, Java, C++ or C#)Good communication skills; Team playerGood understanding of agile development principles (eg microservices, SOA)Current and active Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for SCI and PolygraphRequired for Sr. Software Engineering SpecialistAll of the above requirements for Software Engineering SpecialistTypically 12 or more years of professional experience in software engineering and/or technical lead role.Preferred QualificationsExperience in agile software delivery (eg, Scrum, XP, Kanban)Experience leading or conducting researchPrior experience working with databases (eg PostgreSQL, Oracle, MYSQL, MongoDB, Neo4j)Experience developing in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure)Ways We Reward Our Employees During your interview process, our team will provide all the details of our industry-leading benefits and career development opportunities.
