Summary

The Case Management and Community Court Branch is responsible for many specialized functions and the handling of public and non-public (sensitive) information in support of the community service program and customer service operations in the Criminal Division. The incumbent will be responsible for the technical assistance, training and development, implementation of various management functions within the branch, and for Supervising all operations.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Incumbent assists the Branch Chief by providing technical assistance, leadership/guidance and monitoring to the assigned work force to accomplish Division mission and goals.
  • Evaluates policies, procedures, practices and prepares recommendations for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of branch functions to the Branch Chief and other stakeholders.
  • Supervises and conducts performance evaluations of Community Service Program and Customer Service Deputy Clerks.
  • Participates in conferences, collaborates with managers from other Divisions and public and private agencies to coordinate mutual work-related programs and objectives of the Court.
  • Maintains and revises, Standard Operating Procedures Manual for the Community Service Program and Customer Service.
  • Assists by planning, formulating and administering programs designed to accomplish Branch functions.
  • Identifies training and development needs of the staff, provides training and makes recommendations to the Branch Chief for outside training.
  • Responds to inquiries made by the public, outside agencies, judges and court personnel.
  • Performs other comparable duties, relevant to position, as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required To Perform The Position:
  • Knowledge of Superior Court Rules, Criminal Procedure, District of Columbia Code and policies.
  • Knowledge of Community Court and problem-solving court philosophy, concepts and principles.
  • Knowledge of the D.C. court system and court operations as related to Community Court and problem-solving court processes and community service work for defendants.
  • Knowledge and understanding of case docket entries and courtroom functions.
  • Must have a creative ability to develop programs necessary for implementation of court policies.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Case Management System and how it is used to achieve management objectives.
  • Knowledge of the techniques used to gather, analyze and evaluate essential information relating to the specific functions of the Branch.
  • Knowledge and ability to review a court calendar for accuracy, and perform any necessary corrections.
  • Knowledge and ability to review docket entries and filings with ability to interpret and provide guidance for correction.

The ability and readiness for employees to telework impacts operational requirements and capabilities.     Qualifications

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    • High School Diploma
    • 7 years of administrative or position related customer service experience
    • One year supervisory experience. Successful completion of the Management Training Program is equivalent to one year

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 3 years of administrative or position related customer service experience which must include one year of supervisory experience. Successful completion of the Management Training Program is equivalent to one year

    Education
