Summary

This position is located in the Division of Administration, Corporate Services Branch of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the areas of conference, meeting and special events planning and execution for the FDIC Chairman, and other senior FDIC officials, and program staff from the various FDIC divisions and offices, nationwide.

Responsibilities

Duties may include oversight management of the FDIC Food Services Program, FDIC Training Center and Student Residence Center operations; and leading the efforts in coordinating assignments and training within the Special Services Unit.

Other duties include:
  • Provides guidance and technical support to event sponsors and team for seminars, conferences, and special events. Manages all aspects of requests, Corporate-wide, on planning a conference or other FDIC event. Schedules meetings with division/office representatives to gather information and provide guidance in the planning process to ensure the successful execution of the planned program. Works directly with FDIC senior officials in planning and executing high profile events. Ensures successful execution of events thru the development of new methods and internal processes as well as propose new policies and guidelines to adapt to changing agency needs.
  • Serves as the Oversight Manager or Technical Monitor responsible for phases of contract management in connection with several high dollar value and complex cost reimbursement and performance based service contracts, including operation of the student residence center and multiple location cafeteria, executive dining, and food service operations.
  • Provides outstanding customer service and the ability to build and maintain relationships, both internally and externally with all levels of management, contractors, vendors and program officials from other government and private sector organizations
  • Develops and implements operating procedures and interprets FDIC policies as they pertain to conference and event planning. Evaluates and recommends new or revised program requirements to improve the overall program expectations.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG/GS-11 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as planning and coordinating event activities that may be conducted in-person or virtually and working with government contracts as either an oversight manager, key point of contact with a government contractor or a contract technical monitor.

In addition to the specialized experience, the ideal candidate possesses excellent customer service, attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge and experience in providing excellent customer service.
  • Skill in oral and written communication, including the exchange of information and ideas in ways that promote a mutual understanding and effective decision making using email, written proposals, reports and summaries.
