DescriptionJOB SUMMARY: The Director of Cloud Operations is responsible for developing and managing the overall strategy, operation and management of the company's growing Cloud and Infrastructure Services business including the optimization and utilization of designDATA's private cloud solution, as well as solutions based on Azure managed cloud services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Leads the development, monetization, utilization, optimization, and support of our Azure and datacenter practices for designDATA * Establish and manage network infrastructure and server hosting and storage * Apply extensive knowledge of VMware virtual environments to lead the management of the designDATA private cloud datacenter operations * Advise on emerging technologies that should be integrated and/or introduced to ensure designDATA's cloud capabilities respond to the needs of the business, including technology evaluation and ongoing vendor management * Plan, implement, and establish operational and maintenance programs to deliver best-in-class platform infrastructure * Collaborate with operational service teams on both tactical and strategic projects * Maintains HP Synergy, 3Par SAN and Exagrid/Veeam backup * Manages Cisco Catalyst infrastructure * Manage multiple technical projects simultaneously, and effectively manage project teams to meet project scope, timing, and cost goals * Develop annual capital and operating budgets for cloud, datacenter, and general infrastructure components * Develop strategy and tactics to maintain 99.999% reliability on systems, platforms, and infrastructure (24x7x365) CERTIFICATIONS: * Azure Solutions Architect certification required * VMware VCP certification desired * CCNA certification desired KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: * Good verbal and written communication skills * Solid problem-solving skills * Good organizational and time management skills * Strong customer service skills * Strong vendor management skills * Highly collaborative * Required experience with the following: o Well established expertise with AWS or Azure (both preferable) o Well established expertise with Cisco 6500-series switches, HP Blade enclosures, 3PAR storage, EVA storage, and Veeam backup and replication. Expertise with Exagrid storage desired. o Hardware and networking topology o Configure and troubleshoot Office 365 o Configure and troubleshoot VMWare o Configure and troubleshoot Windows Server o Configure and troubleshoot network switches, firewalls, and wireless access points RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS: * BA/BS in computer science, business administration or other relevant field required * Minimum of 10 years' experience in Information Technology * Minimum of 5 years' experience working directly with VMWare technologies * Demonstrated experience in data center design and installation as well as knowledge of building cloud platforms to provide a highly available infrastructure at scale * Cloud certification in Azure platform * Prior experience working for a managed services provider * Valid driver's license, insurance, and reliable personal vehicle WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The individual will be subject to sedentary work with the majority of hours in a professional office environment and will need to be able to quickly respond to a change in work demands. The individual is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal. Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects (1-40 lbs.) are required.
