Principal Associate, Risk Reporting Specialist

As a Principal Risk Associate at Capital One you'll be responsible for working with business partners to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One. Principal Risk Associates at Capital One are the front line of defense to ensure our Company remains stable and profitable.

Principal Risk Associates at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent organizational and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.

This Risk Principle Associate role is a key performer in the Governance, Risk Intelligence, and Documentation (GRID) team within the Retail Bank Risk Office. Through governance, guidelines and forums, the team promotes best practices and discipline aimed at ensuring the Retail Bank and Risk Office is well-managed and provides the value expected by the first and second line of defense partners. While Business Risk Officers (BROs) within the Risk Office work directly with the lines of business, GRID defines the methodology and process used across the BRO teams as they manage risks, events, metrics, and reporting.

The other primary functions of the team for RDB Risk Office includes governance and support for event and issue management, risk management, audits and exams, and first line compliance monitoring and reporting. Utilizing tools such as Tableau, the team provides reports and analysis ranging from weekly and monthly risk management reports to quarterly Risk Oversight Committee materials. GRID ensures the quality of information maintained in, and reported out of, PRIME, Capital One's risk management system of record.

Responsibilities:
  • Advise and consult with the Business Risk Officer teams to help furtherdrive enhancements to well-designed risk management reports
  • Participate in and help drive defining reporting needs between multiple areas, leading multiple parallel work streams
  • Identify and report on risk and event trends to inform leadership and risk office of data driven improvement opportunities
  • Responsible for implementing a risk reporting intent prioritization process and overseeing implementation pods
  • Support second line of defense assurance reviews, internal audits, and regulatory exams request by providing data and reporting
  • Ad Hoc requests to support team


As a Principal Risk Specialist, you will:
  • Leverage analytical skills to identify trends and reporting needs
  • Be proficient with reporting tools such as Tableau and Google slides
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with Leadership, Risk Advisors and second line partners
  • Manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines, independently and with supervision
  • Be a key role indelivering on our well-managed risk reporting objective

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree or military experience
  • At least 2 years of Agile or Project Management experience
  • At least 1 year of Financial Services Risk Management experience
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of Agile or Project Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs in Risk
  • PMP Certification or Masters Certificate of Project Management (CPM)
