Duties
Summary
This position will serve as a Program Support Assistant in the Primary Care Service at the Salem VA Medical Center. This position will report to the Administrative Officer and will primarily serve the Compensation and Pension/Environmental Registry section. This individual will also have administrative responsibilities within the Primary Care Service to include providing back-up with Employee Occupational Health, PCMM, PATS-R, and other assigned tasks.

Responsibilities
Liaison between the Salem VAMC Compensation and Pension (C&P) department and VA Regional Offices (VARO) and serves as Environmental Registry (ER) Program coordinator.
Responsible for receiving requests for C&P examinations and scheduling with the Veteran using VISTA Scheduling. The ER exams will be scheduled according to directives and direction from the lead physician in the area.
Responsible for general correspondence related to appointments and manage patient workload data in VISTA following visits.
Responsible for identifying need for and requesting build of any new clinic within C&P or ER.
Responsible for data abstraction and report compilation as required. The data would include workload, turn-around time, wait time, physician productivity as well as other statistics related to each program.
Aides in the operations of the C&P and ER areas, each staffed by clinicians tasked with completing the medical examinations as required for C&P or ER.
Responsible for registering Veterans upon arrival and managing flow through the clinic.
Responsible for maintain the C&P and ER files according to NARA regulations for storage of official government records.
Knowledge of medical terminology, and a working knowledge of Compensation and Pension and Environmental Registry. Environmental Registry exams are inclusive of, but not restricted to: Agent Orange Registry, Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry, Gulf War Registry, Ionizing
Radiation Registry, Depleted Uranium Follow-up Program, Toxic Embedded Fragment, etc.
Responsible for monitoring the completion of required reports and that they are sent timely to the VARO or requesting agency, individual, etc.
Primary contact for each program and will be required to have frequent contact with patient inquiry.
Provide professional customer service and be able to tactfully respond to questions and concerns.
Preforms other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/27/2021.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
