Summary

This position is located in the Office of Information Technology, Information Security. You will oversee the implementation of IT security controls and ensure systems are compliant with mandated security policies and requirements. You will also coordinate security and compliance assessments, audits, and security testing for system(s).

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements Information System Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Conducts risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and measures needed to protect automated information, and to complete system certification and accreditation for each system.
  • Promotes Security Awareness and Communication; Works with System Owners and ISSO?s to ensure familiarity with key information security concepts and requirements.
  • Ensures security is addressed in system design and system modifications via the System Development Life Cycle.
  • Oversees the FNS IT System's Assessment and Authorization Lifecycle or Risk Management Framework Activities and Creates and monitors status Plan of Action and Milestones for Security Program.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

To meet the GS-13, you must at least demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates knowledge in Information Technology (InfoSec).

Specific work experience must demonstrate in the following duties:
  • Advanced knowledge of IT security policies, procedures, and assessment and authorization
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate a system's compliance with IT security requirements and perform validation steps, comparing actual results with expected results, and identify impact and risk-
  • Ability to review and evaluate new compliance standards to assess current protocols and procedures and determine the required courses of action.

ISC2 CAP or SSCP or Certified FISMA Compliance Practitioner Certification Preferred
