Responsibilities

  • Analyze transactions, accounts, and reports and in identifying and resolving complex issues.
  • Analyze obligations to determine validity and identify abnormal or exceptional unliquidated conditions.
  • Participate in decision- making sessions.
  • Research appropriate source materials to develop and recommend solutions to complex financial management and accounting issues.
  • Conduct joint reviews and report reconciliation at activities and fiscal stations.
  • Prepare presentations for managers, peers and customers on best practices, process improvement initiatives and implementation guidelines and procedures.
  • Analyze and interpret finance and accounting policies, procedures, systems and program initiatives.
  • Maintain a high awareness of policies and operating procedures as well as the information systems employed to execute financial operations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-12 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Assist with difficult assignments involving inter-relationships between and among systems, such as: Standard Finance System (Army) (STANFINS), Electronic Error Correction and Transaction Analysis (ELECTRA), or General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS); Coordinate within a team to resolve various non-routine issues regarding finance, accounting and/or general resource management programs, systems and operations; Assist with analyzing and correcting accounting transactions executed by customers and ensure the accurate accounting and reporting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

GS-13 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Provide methods and techniques for obtaining and interpreting financial data and reports; Conduct difficult assignments involving inter-relationships between and among systems, such as: Standard Finance System (Army) (STANFINS), Electronic Error Correction and Transaction Analysis (ELECTRA), or General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS); Plan, organize and/or conduct activities essential to achieve accounting program and organizational objectives; and Prepare and present various data, guidelines/policies, and/or best practices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Education
